Overview

Goals for our interview process:

• Quick and effective process based on early alignment
• Give you a sense of common day to day tasks for this role (no trick questions)
• Give you a chance to see if we are a good fit for your interests
• Get evidence of the technical skills needed for the role
• Understand what you need to do your best work

Steps (2 Weeks)

Our interview process takes about two weeks from first contact to offer. Please read the steps below in full.

1. Alignment Form (5 mins)

Please read the job post in full if you have not done so and then fill out the following form. If you answer No on any question, it means the role is not a good fit for you.

2. Technical Exercise (Take Home, ~1-3 Hours)

• Your role requires you spend most of your day coding.
• These exercises will give you a clear sense of the type of tasks we expect you to handle as part of this role.
• You are expected to share your work before the technical interview (see step 3); you can either provide a zip or share a Github repository
• Take as much time as you need. Complete as much as you can.
• Download the exercise from the zip below. Instructions are in the README file.

3. Technical Interview (1 Hour)

We will discuss:

• Your recent work experience
• Your solutions to the technical exercise from step 2
• General technical topics related to your role
• Explain the project you will be working on

Make sure that you’ll be able to have your video on and you can share your screen in a Google Meet video chat.

4. Final Interview (30 Mins)

If we think you will be a good technical fit, we will invite you to schedule a final interview with another future colleague to discuss:

• How you like to work in a team setting
• Your mentoring, coaching or management experience (if any)
• Any questions you may have

5. Submit Resume for approval (1 - 2 days)

We will submit your resume for approval by the client.

6. Background Check (~1 Week)

We will run a background check through GoodHire for criminal, work and education history.

7. Sign contract and set a start date (1 - 2 days)

You will sign an independent contractor agreement with Focus and we will determine your start date.
